Vibration as used in Sensory environments
Soundbed, Soundchair, Soundbox or Minibox can be used as part of a sensory room, or on their own. In addition to enabling people with hearing impairments to feel sound, they have a range of sensory uses that can be either relaxing or stimulating, depending upon the sounds/music used and the personalities of those experiencing the vibration.
Many existing customers are Schools or Centres for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and / or sensory impairments. Teachers have observed that experiencing relaxing music Vibroacoustically through Soundbox, Soundbed or Soundchair can, if necessary, calm and relax PMLD and sensory impaired people.
The experience of feeling vibration can also stimulate & enhance communication, by reinforcing an awareness of sound and music. This can help to encourage concentration and participation by people with learning disabilities, including some on the autistic spectrum.
A wide variety of sounds can be experienced Vibroacoustically through Soundbed, Soundchair, Soundbox or Minibox, whether recorded music from a CD or Cassette or live sounds from Soundbeam, a keyboard, a guitar or a microphone.
Additional requirements:
1. You will need an amplifier to power Soundbed, Soundchair, Soundbox or Minibox. Most domestic hi-fi amplifiers are suitable.
2. Its also a good idea to connect a pair of powered speakers so that sounds can be heard clearly, as well as experienced Vibroacoustically.
If you dont already have a suitable amplifier and powered speakers, we can supply them.
